About the Artist
A lifelong resident of Lancaster County, PA, and after serving the interior design community for the past 30+ years, I found clay. Although my profession demands most of my time, clay consumes my spare time.
Being exposed to many cultural aesthetics, and from travels abroad, I wanted my craft to reflect objects that are appreciated for their intrinsic value as we have done for centuries. I try to capture the grace, presence, and instinctive nature of our fellow creatures, while adding whimsy to each piece.
A combination of throwing, pinching, and slab work are implemented into each piece. They are carefully crafted using sculpting methods. Once the personality of the piece is established, the method of blending slips, underglazes, and glazes is determined to complete each sculpture. All are fired in an electric kiln to cone 6.
"My husband and I lost our beloved dog, Koko, who was taken far too young. In his 4 short years with us, he taught us about love, loyalty, happiness, innocence, and perseverance in the face of illness. I dedicate my work to his memory."
