In The Studio…….

Once a hen house, the building was renovated into an art studio in 2015. Although tiny in stature, it is packed with supplies, sunlight, and sounds of nature. An absolute dream of a studio.

The Process….

Beeswax has long been my finish of choice when my pieces are complete. The clay body that is used accepts the beeswax beautifully and gives an added patina to the work when all firings are complete. Beeswax is brushed on molten, and then melted and encouraged into the clay pores with a blow torch.

In the last few years, I have also grown an affinity to working with encaustic on my work.

Encaustic adds a dimension to the finish that is lush and sexy in its color combination and smooth deep finish. Watch for more work being introduced in the future with this particular finish.
